Tye and Ann both grew up in homes where adventure was the norm. While Tye recalls nights camped out under the Oregon stars, Ann remembers days spent on two-wheelers with her sister and running around on her family’s farm. And so needless to say, neither Tye nor Ann were afraid of a little adventure growing up, which is why they now share the common understanding that adventure is an integral part of, not only childhood but also life as a whole. More than anything, Tye and Ann wanted to establish a life for their children where memories can be made, imaginations can thrive, and adventures are limitless.
The Rustrum’s feel blessed beyond measure to lead the life they do, and they are reminded every day of how their hard work has paid off when their mornings begin with the sounds of their kids running down the hallway instead of an alarm clock blaring on the bedside table. It’s 10 AM dance parties on a Wednesday instead of sitting in rush hour traffic, riding bikes through their neighborhood with their kids instead of working in a cubicle with no windows. Feeling the sun, the rain, the snow on their face instead of reading about it on the weather channel. That’s true adventure – experiencing the best hours and best days to their fullest.
But even more than that, Tye and Ann know that their greatest blessing of all is that their future is largely under their control. Their life is a composite of the choices they have made in response to both positive and negative events in their lives. They believe that you either experience success in life or you learn, failure only happens if you don’t learn from the situation. For the Rustrums, there is great hope and assurance in the fact that you can “rig the game” in your favor even when bad situations come based on your reaction to those situations.
Adventure to the Rustrums definitely includes travel.
So what exactly does that look like for the Rustrums? Well, it means chasing after one of their biggest dreams of all. Tye and Ann’s long-term goal is to travel the world with their children taking in every experience they can along the way. Their bucket list is long… from hiking the mountains of Machu Pichu to serving at orphanages in Africa, from watching vibrant fish through the floor of an over-the-ocean bungalow in Fiji to experiencing the Northern Lights in a glass igloo in Finland, from learning true history in the streets of Israel to building a school for street children in Peru, from walking the Great Wall of China to screaming their lungs out at a premier soccer match in Spain. If nothing else, the Rustrums plan on embracing a life rich in worldly experiences, all kinds of adventure, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
